MONDAY PROGRAM --- THE BIGGEST "TIME" LOSER
Focused on Time Managemernt and Organizational Skills
AUTHOR: Lisa Ann Landry - IDG Trainer & Speaker
When it comes to managing your time think about the small things that you can do every day that will make a big difference down the line that’s what the Law of the Slight Edge is about. One of the best illustrations of this concept I ever heard is the racing's Triple Crown series for three-year-old quarter horse. Did you know there’s a $5 million bonus to any horse that can win all three races (The Kentucky Derby, The Preakness and The Belmont Stakes?) If one horse fails to win all three races, there’s still a $1 million bonus for the horse with the best overall record in the three races.
I had to chance to go to the Kentucky Derby races one year. During the series the best of the field were two horses, Sunday Silence who won The Kentucky Derby, and Easy Goer who won the Belmont. In each race the other horse finished second. The middle race (The Preakness) was the tie breaker.
This was a thrilling race where the two horses ran down the stretch to the finish line way ahead of the rest to a photo finish. Sunday Silence won the race by a nose! With the first place purse $700,000 and with the million dollar bonus total winnings were $1,700.000. Guess what the second place prize was worth? $70,000.
Sunday Silence got about 25 times more money for his efforts than did Easy Goer! Do you think Sunday Silence was 25 times better? No! In the three races covering five weeks and nearly four miles of running, one horse was only about two inches better than the other. There was virtually no difference between the two, but the payoff was huge!
That's what the Law of The Slight Edge can do for you, give you a big payoff over a period of time for just making little changes. Here is a challenge! Look at things that pile up dishes, files, laundry, bills and just work on one a little everyday let me know what happens.
Lisa will continue her series next Monday right here on the Image Development Network.
