MONDAY PROGRAM --- THE BIGGEST "TIME" LOSER

The Law of Expectation says, "whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right." Focusing on this idea from the perspective of personal time management & productivity don’t you just want to argue with this ideal? In the training courses I conduct, this ideal is often met with resistance. “I’d never do that, I’d never say that, I’d lose my job, I just don’t have enough time,” etc. Do you here the pattern? Imagine what you could get done if you just believe with confidence you could? Start with something small to solidify your belief & work your way up to bigger things. It’s probably better to practice this when you’re not having a crisis although one of the most effective times this has worked for me was during a slight crisis.

I was conducting a leadership training course in Sacramento one Friday and finished the program early. I was excited to wrap up the training and have the opportunity to catch an earlier flight home. The client, elated with the event wanted to debrief & discuss next steps. We finish around 4 pm & before heading to the airport I checked the itinerary OMG! The flight was at 5 pm and I was no where near the airport.

These situations used to send me over the edge! However, in this situation I used the power of positive thinking by saying affirmations as I drove to the airport; I’m joyfully making my flight, the universe is opening a path on that jammed up highway… I have to tell you dream stealers discouraged me along the way; at the rental car return, the skycap, even in the security line. For every person who told me I’d never make my flight destination I replied, “I’ll never make it if I don’t try!” Imagine Sacramento on a Friday at 5 pm- you’ve made it through the security line (of 300 people) your RUNNING down the terminal to the gate rushing to make your 5 pm flight. Wahoo! I made the flight! FYI, It was delayed.

Moral of the story, I could’ve decided I’m never going to make it & never would’ve. What things can you get done if you just believe with confidence you could?
